Community Shop @ Bedok South Opens Its Doors!

Published: 17 May 2026, Sunday

A New Chapter for Bedok South

There was plenty to celebrate on 16 May 2026 as we have officially opened the doors to our 6th Community Shop — this time in Bedok South!

The launch was officiated by Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash, Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Manpower, Mayor of the South East District (Bedok). Joining us for this very special occasion were our Guest of Honour, Board Director and Treasurer, CEO, ImpactSG, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and our resident beneficiaries, all gathered to mark the start of an exciting new chapter for the Bedok South community!

Giving with Dignity and Choice

As with our five other Community Shops all across Singapore, Community Shop @ Bedok South was created with one simple goal in mind: to provide food support in a way that is thoughtful, dignified, and most importantly, empowering. Instead of receiving pre-packed food bundles, beneficiaries can choose their favourite food items that best suit their household needs — making every visit a little more meaningful and personal.

A Heartwarming Wave of Support

To celebrate this significant milestone, we also held a Food Donation Drive to stock the shelves of our Community Shop — and the response from the community was nothing short of munificent. Throughout the day, supporters dropped by with generous food donations, helping us stock the shelves for the families who will soon call this Shop their own.

Thanks to the overwhelming support from the community, we were thrilled to surpass our target, receiving over 7,000 food items! Additionally, we are incredibly grateful for the continuous support through cash donations and in-kind donations, with more expected to come in the following weeks.

Stronger Together

Beyond the donations, what truly made the day special was seeing the community come together. From volunteers helping to sort and stock food items, to residents stopping by to lend their support, the launch was a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. With our 6th Community Shop now officially part of the neighbourhood, we look forward to serving more families, building stronger connections, and continuing our journey of sharing hope and nourishing lives together.

Together, we can work towards building a more caring and inclusive community, one shop at a time!
