As we kick off 2025, many of us set resolutions with the best of intentions, aiming to enhance ourselves and our surroundings. This desire to become a better version of ourselves sometimes aligns with the pursuit of philanthropy - a commitment that not only benefitis others but enriches our own lives. After all, acts of kindness and contributions, whether personal or corporate, can have a profound effect on our well-being and mental health while also enhancing connections in the community. In fact, studies even show that engaging in charitable activities reduce stress and elevates happiness, creating a ripple effect of positivity.
So, this 2025, how can you start off on a good note by doing good?
Donating food is a simple yet profoundly impactful way to uplift the community and directly address food insecurity. The fast and fuss free process not only takes less than an hour of your time, but also provides direct support to those who need it most.
At Food from the Heart, we channel every food donation towards filling the significant gaps in nutrition that many face. Our carefully curated Food Wish List, in particular, is designed to meet specific dietary needs, ensuring that every contribution makes a meaningful difference. Donations like rice, oats, and canned proteins are crucial as they provide essential nutrients to those who might otherwise go without them.
Beyond that, through food donations, you not only contribute to addressing food insecurity but also help to foster a spirit of community solidarity, revitalising the traditional 'kampung spirit' of mutual support and unity. As we continue our mission of more than two decades, every can, every bottle, every package you provide helps to build a stronger, healthier society.
A second mutually beneficially way you can contribute to society is through cash donations. Your monetary contribution are cruicial in helping organisations like us buy essential high-demand food items in bulk, which forms the backbone of our distribution efforts. Through your cash donations, you help us maintain the consistency and reliability of our food assistance programmes, ensuring that we can reach as many as possible who face the challenges of food insecurity. Through your support, you become a pivotal part of our mission to care for the underprivileged, enabling us to extend our reach and deepen our impact within the community.
Additionally, making a cash donation to us not only fuels our key initiatives, but also offers you tax benefits, enhancing your financial planning while you contribute to a vital cause. As an Institution of Public Character (IPC), for donations above S$50, every dollar you donate can be claimed for tax relief at 250% until December 31, 2026.
Here at Food from the Heart, we offer a range of volunteering opportunities tailored to different skills and availability, making it easy for you give back.
Here are the three main types of volunteering activities you can engage in:
Food Sorting and Packaging: Join us at our warehouse to sort and package food donations. This involves checking the quality of donated items, ensuring their safety, and preparing food packs for distribution. It’s a hands-on way to directly contribute to our operations.
Food Pack Delivery : If you have your own vehicle, consider signing up to deliver food packs to beneficiaries’ homes . This role allows you to meet and interact directly with beneficiaries, delivering food packs right to their doorsteps, giving you a chance to connect personally with those you’re helping.
Bread Run: Participate in a Bread Run and help us collect unsold bread from bakeries and deliver them to our bread distribution points. This activity is perfect for individuals and families who want to volunteer but cannot commit to multiple weekly hours. Each Bread Run takes less than an hour, and even the littles can join in the fun to learn about reducing food waste and helping those in need.
Each role supports our mission to combat food insecurity and provides you with an opportunity to see the direct impact of your efforts.

Here’s how your company can get involved:
Corporate Sponsorships and Partnerships: Engage with us through tailored sponsorships that align with your brand values and corporate social responsibility goals. These partnerships not only help to fund our essential programmes but also enhance your company’s image as a socially responsible organisation.
Employee Involvement and Matching-Donations: Encourage your employees to participate in our initiatives, from food packing events to fundraising drives. Amplify their impact by matching their contributions, doubling the support provided to those in need.
Expertise Sharing: Besides monetary donations, offering your professional services or donating goods can significantly bolster our operations. Whether it's providing logistical support, marketing expertise, or technological solutions, your in-kind contributions are invaluable.
Partner with us and turn corporate social responsibility into a cornerstone of your business strategy this year.
5. Spread the Word
In the digital age, your voice is powerful, especially when used to advocate for causes like food insecurity. As we embark on a new year, consider leveraging your social platforms to amplify our mission at Food from the Heart. Raise awareness and inspire action through social media posts highlighting personal experiences or even through community boards to post about upcoming events or needs. Or you could simply engage local communities in conversations about food security and how they can help.
As we step into the new year, remember that each small act of kindness contributes to a larger change. Whether through food donations, financial contributions with the benefit of tax relief, or volunteering, you have the power to make a significant difference. By giving back, not only do you enrich the lives of others, but you also set a profound example of compassion and responsibility in our community. When someone asks, "What have you done to make your community a better place?" let your actions this year provide a powerful answer.
Together, let's make generosity a defining part of our year. Join us at Food from the Heart and let your contributions to our food charity in Singapore embody the spirit of giving and help secure a brighter future for all.
