We Opened Our 3rd Community Shop!

We are glad to announce that our Community Shop @ Lengkok Bahru served its first beneficiaries last week on 23 February!

The launch was graced by President Halimah Yacob, who opened the Shop, as well as the attendance of Parliamentary Secretary and Adviser to Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations (Queenstown) Mr Eric Chua.

The Shop, the third of its kind, reaches the needy community in the central area of Singapore, in addition to our locations in Mountbatten (East) and Boon Lay (West). It is funded by NCSS’s Care & Share Matching Grant and currently serves more than 500 households through our partnership with NTUC Health, Queenstown Citizens’ Consultative Committee and Bukit Merah Secondary School. We hope to eventually serve 1,000 households in the area.

During the ceremony, our CEO Ms Sim Bee Hia shared the results of our latest dipstick survey held among our Shop beneficiaries from Mountbatten and Boon Lay -

Key statistics included that 89% felt that the Community Shop is their preferred platform for food aid as it allows them the freedom to choose the food they need and convenience of its locations, 98% found the location convenient, and 94% said that the food items offered met their needs.

In addition to revealing further insights into the behaviour and mindsets of our beneficiaries that will impact our future plans, the feedback from the survey also cements our direction to continue opening Community Shops in more locations. As such, our fourth Community Shop will be opened in the second quarter of 2022 at Sumang Lane, Punggol West, and is projected to serve more than 1,000 beneficiaries.

We look forward to serving more, better - join us with a donation today!
