There are many ways one can give back to the needy. If you have been wondering how to spend your time in a meaningful way, here are some volunteering opportunities that pop up regularly at Food from the Heart that you can consider.
Food Sorting and Packing
Food from the Heart takes responsibility for the food that we distribute. That’s why food items go through a thorough quality check process to qualify the food safety of donated items. Volunteers are required to sort food donations into categories, check the expiry dates and condition of the packaging, and sometimes also to repack rice into smaller packs.
Our food packs need to be properly packed, secured and prepared for delivery! Volunteers work as a group to put items into our food packs and get them ready to be distributed.
Where: Food from the Heart Warehouse, 130 Joo Seng Road #03-01
When: Weekdays, 2.5hrs. Choose from 9.30am – 12pm or 2.30pm – 5pm

Door-to-Door Deliveries
Volunteers are required to pick up food packs from our warehouse and deliver them to the doorsteps of our beneficiaries. Those looking for opportunities to interact with and show your care to the needy will enjoy this as it allows face-to-face engagement with beneficiaries. However, do note that not all beneficiaries will be home at the time of delivery.
Where: Food from the Heart Warehouse, 130 Joo Seng Road #03-01
When: Pick up food pack on weekdays, from 10am – 4pm. Delivery time to be confirmed on a case-by-case basis.
We are most in need of such volunteers at the moment. To volunteer for door-to-door food pack delivery, 1) follow the steps in our food pack delivery guide and 2) sign up as a volunteer with Food from the Heart if you aren't yet a volunteer.'

Bread Runs
Help us save bread from being wasted by picking up leftover bread in bulk from bakeries and delivering them to our distribution points on the same day! We often see families participate in this as a family; children tag along with their parents to do something meaningful together.
Time and location to be confirmed on a case-by-case basis.
Ad Hoc
Food from the Heart sometimes needs virtual help from skilled professionals (e.g. designers, accountants, photographers) and administrative work. Some of these tasks require our volunteers to physically show up while others do not. Write in to us and we’ll reach out to you if and when we need your help.
Time and location to be confirmed on a case-by-case basis.
