Charity Golf, Our First In-Person Event Since COVID-19

Food from the Heart's Charity Golf Tournament - our first in-person event since the pandemic - returned to Singapore Island Country Club on 12 November. The event combined the love of golf and giving back to the community in a day competition on the green and raised over $192,000 towards supporting our beneficiaries, thanks to a swift uptake of flights from golfers and an especially enthusiastic response from sponsors and donors!

Charity Golf is one of Food from the Heart's two annual major fundraisers, both of which could not be held over the past two years due to COVID-19. Since the start of 2020, we have had to fall back on other means to feed our growing pool of beneficiaries. It was also then that we saw the start of an incline in number of beneficiaries. Our food pack programmes Community Food Pack and School Goodie Bag used to serve over 6,000 households per month; today, they serve over 10,000 households.

When asked about the event, Pravin Jumabhoy, Chairman of Images in Motion and a valued supporter of Food from the Heart, told us, “It’s a chance for social interaction and to do good at the same time. Food from the Heart’s events are well-organised so I know I’ll have a good time."

At the top of the list of corporate sponsors was Audemars Piguet, which supported Charity Golf for the first time with a contribution of $50,000. Stefanie Ng, CEO of Audemars Piguet Southeast Asia and long-time Food from the Heart partner said, “Food from the Heart’s work of ensuring food support to improve the welfare of our society strongly resonates with Audemars Piguets’s values and commitment to giving back to the community. As Presenting Sponsor this year, we’re glad to be able to support such a meaningful event that brings people together in the spirit of giving during a time when it is most needed.” Other corporates who have stepped forward include official media partner The Peak, official design partner JAB Design and official photographer Firefly Photography.

With 95% of the event flights being booked out within the first week while and seeing goodie bag sponsors triple from previous years, the spirit of giving is very much alive during these difficult times. We look forward to holding more events such as these, and nourishing more lives better.
